SCARVES AND FABRIC ART
Lynn Moore is a textile artist who specializes in fabric collage. She captures imaginative scenes from nature by manipulating fabrics, combining textures and blending threads to transform fabric into art. Lynn chooses from hundreds of fabrics, which she has collected, hand-dyed, hand painted, airbrushed, batiked, and marble fabrics, along with commercially created - all made of good quality cotton. Lynn cuts the fabric using a free-form technique, usually with no preconceived pattern or design. Starting with only a colour scheme in mind, she is inspired by the various fabrics, from which she envisions skies, trees, mountains, rock and water. Her fascination with colour and love for realism becomes evident in her work.
Sandra has been weaving on and off during her adult years, but in 2007 seriously started taking lessons at the Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design to get the most out of the floor loom she had inherited from her grandmother. Over the years Sandra has availed herself of weaving courses offered locally and internationally. In 2017 she began taking the 5-year Master Weaver Certificate Program an extension program of Olds College offered at the Gaelic College. Originally from Alberta, Sandra lives with her husband in Sydney.
